If someone is taken, they’re taken. That’s that. Unless they’re in an unhealthy, abusive or just completely terrible relationship, back the fuck off and leave them alone. I don’t care if you think you’re better than Person 1 is for Person 2 (the person you like). If you’ve got feelings for Person 2 and they’re happily dating Person 1 then be fucking happy for them. There are other fish in the sea or some stupid shit like that. Don’t try and make yourself look better than Person 1 (and don’t do it then kiss up to Person 1 like it’s all okay). Just back off and leave them alone. Be Person 2’s friend and Person 1’s if you can, but back off and let your feelings calm the fuck down. Don’t treat Person 2 like your girlfriend/boyfriend because they aren’t. They’re someone else’s.
